A single bottle of Macallan sold for $2.7 million at Sotheby’s in London over the weekend—setting a new world record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at auction.

A single bottle of Macallan 1926 Valerio Adami 60 year old sold for $2.7 million at Sotheby's in London, making it the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at auction. The previous record was held by a bottle of Macallan Fine & Rare 1926 60 year old, which sold for $1.9 million in 2020. Only 10 of the Valerio Adami bottles still exist, and this particular bottle was one of only 40 that were originally released in 1986.
